How to care for your billiard table

Our tips for looking after your billiard table

Traditional billiard tables need particular care, with cloths that are sensitive to stains and wear over time and need frequent replacing. By contrast, Cornilleau outdoor billiard tables in the Hyphen range are free of these constraints thanks to their resistance to knocks, stains and bad weather.

Most marks can be removed easily with the brush provided, water and a non-abrasive sponge. It is, however, best to act as soon as a mark appears. It is essential to rinse the playing surface with water and let it air dry to avoid leaving any marks. High-pressure washers are not recommended, except in exceptional situations.

Cornilleau outdoor billiard tables are designed to be easy to clean, as the examples of stubborn stains below show. For deeper cleaning, see our specific advice for each type of stain.

Coffee

Known for leaving marks when spilled on fabric, coffee is no problem for Cornilleau outdoor billiard tables. Simply clean the stain with water and a sponge soon after you notice it. For even more effective cleaning, mix 1 liter of water with 15 ml of dish soap and use this to clean the cloth. Then rinse thoroughly and let it air dry.

On Cornilleau outdoor tables, simply wipe the playing surface with a wet sponge, rinse and let it dry to remove the stain. For even more effective cleaning, mix 1 liter of water with 15 ml of dish soap and use this solution to clean the cloth. Then rinse thoroughly and let it air dry.

An aperitif, a chat with friends: someone puts a glass down on the edge of the table and it accidentally tips over. If you act quickly, a sponge and water may be enough. For even more effective cleaning, mix about 50 ml of hydrogen peroxide, 15 ml of dish soap and 20 ml of white vinegar with 1 liter of water and use this solution to clean the cloth. Specific advice for each type of stain

To go further, here are specific recommendations for each type of stain. Even more effective than water and the brush, they will restore your cloth to its original condition. In each case, gently rub the cloth with the recommended cleaning solution until the stain disappears, then rinse thoroughly and let it air dry.

  • Coffee, soda, ketchup, mustard, milk, tea: mix 1 liter of water with 15 ml of dish soap.
  • Red berries: mix about 50 ml of white vinegar with 15 ml of dish soap and 1 liter of water.
  • Wine: mix about 50 ml of hydrogen peroxide, 15 ml of dish soap and 20 ml of white vinegar with 1 liter of water.
  • Ink: clean with a volatile solvent such as acetone, then clean with soap and water and rinse thoroughly.

Annual care advice

Before winter, or if you use your billiard table infrequently, a full clean is recommended. Use the brush provided to brush the whole cloth and remove impurities from the playing surface. To prepare your table for winter or protect it during a long period without use, simply cover it with the dedicated protective cover. This will protect it as much as possible from the weather and dust.

If you have the table top option, which turns your billiard table into a dining table, we recommend leaving the tops in place during the winter. Make sure the spacers and pads are correctly positioned between the table tops and the textile playing surface. Then cover everything with the dedicated protective cover. We recommend using the pop-up to let air circulate under the cover and limit moisture build-up.

After a long period under the protective cover, moss or slight traces of mold may have formed on the cloth. This is not a major problem. Simply remove them before use with a non-abrasive sponge and water.
