How to care for your table football
Indoors or outdoors, a table football table needs a minimum of care to last and keep its looks and functional qualities. Imagined and designed as an outdoor product, the Cornilleau table football table is your ideal playing partner for afternoons and evenings with friends or family. Follow these few tips to keep it that way for many years!
How do you care for a table football table?
The playing box
The box is the central element of a table football table. On Cornilleau tables, it is made of laminated resin, a material that has proven itself for decades on outdoor table tennis tables. This material is extremely tough. Even so, the screws on the box need regular tightening so the table stays perfectly stable. To clean the box, use soapy water. The same applies to the stainless steel goals and goal backs, which should then be dried with a soft cloth.
The rods
Key to the table, the playing rods are also its most sensitive parts. They should be lubricated regularly with mechanical oil or petroleum jelly oil. When doing this, protect the playing surface with a cloth and wipe off any excess so that no drops fall on it. As rods can bend under sudden or excessive force, they must not be pushed or pulled in a direction other than normal use. It is also essential not to move your table using the rods. If something feels wrong during play or your rods squeak, please contact us to replace the damaged rod.
The feet
On the Cornilleau Outdoor table, the wooden feet are the parts that need the most careful attention. Made of Moabi, an exotic wood renowned for its looks and high weather resistance, they should be treated every year. To do this, apply a coat of colorless stain designed for exterior wood, letting it soak into the wood. The stain must be applied to clean, dry wood. Be sure to follow the instructions and drying time given on the product.
The playing surface
The first step in caring for the playing surface is to remove any dirt and dust that could interfere with the ball’s path. To do this, use a vacuum cleaner (ideally with a brush so as not to scratch the surface) or a can of compressed air. You can also use a cloth or a slightly damp sponge. If the surface has marks or stains, cleaning with a damp sponge and soapy water should be enough in most cases. If stains persist, carefully apply a cloth soaked in white spirit gently and locally to the stain. Be sure to rinse with clean water and dry the surface as soon as any liquid is applied or spilled on it. Note that it is essential to use balls designed for table football so as not to damage the surface.
The players and balls
Plastic table football balls are suitable for outdoor use, weather resistant and long-lasting. Cork balls, however, react to humidity, so do not leave them in your table outdoors. Wipe your balls with a dry cloth before playing. If your balls are too worn, new ones are available in our catalog. The players are made of painted aluminum. Clean them with soapy water rather than harsh products that could damage them.
How do you move a table football table?
Moving a table football table can be tricky if you do not know how. Yet it is simple to change its location to play wherever you like or to put it under cover for the winter. All it takes is two people to lift it by the playing box. It is essential to carry the table by the playing box and not by the rods, so as not to bend them. After each move to a new playing area, remember to adjust the height of the feet using the key supplied with the table (or a 13 mm wrench) via the foot pad screw.

How do you protect a table football table out of season?

Once the summer season is over, you need to think about caring for and storing your table football table. The outdoor table is designed to withstand the weather and can be kept outside. Ideally, it should be stored in a sheltered place. The protective cover is strongly recommended, as it protects the table from dirt (water, dust, falling leaves and so on) and from color changes caused by prolonged exposure to the sun.
